Most people tend to think that choosing shoes is mainly about fashion and looks, and hence golf shoes tend not to be one of the things that they think about when looking for ways to improve their golf game. Of course looks are important to most of us, but choosing the right shoe, one that is healthy and comfortable for both you and your feet, really can make a tremendous difference to your swing.
In the past, the choice of golf shoes available on the market was quite limited. However, there are today many different types of golf shoes available in the market. These include golf sandals, golf boots, and even golf shoes that really resemble tennis shoes. The spikes on the various types of shoes can be quite different, so be sure that when you buy a golf shoe, it's going to give you the results that you are looking for.
When you first consider a new golf shoe, you'll probably want to try it on in a store before deciding whether to purchase. Golf shoes can also be purchased online too, and online prices are often cheaper than stores, so this is a good option if buying a replacement pair of shoes when your previous pair run out. Of course, there are also some people who try on shoes in the store, mentally choosing the pair that they want, but making their actual purchases from the internet...
When shopping for golf shoes, there are a few things to bear in mind:
- When trying on golf shoes, be sure to wear the same style of socks that you will wear when playing.
- Most people's feet tend to expand slightly during the day, especially as a result of walking around. For this reason, try to do your shoe shopping in the afternoons rather than first thing in the morning, and try to walk for at least 20 minutes before going into the golf/sports store.
- You can find golf shoes available atall sorts of different prices. While there are always exceptions, on the whole, you'll probably find that better quality shoes tend to cost slightly more, but also last longer and are more comfortable, whereas cheap golf shoes are often a false economy.
In summary, spending a little time thinking about your footwear can having surprising benefits: a better golf game, and one that you'll enjoy more thanks to improved comfort!
